It must be love, love, love! It’s time to get your tickets for this year’s fabulous musical, Our House, based on the hit songs of Madness.

A cast from across the school will be performing the show. On the night of his 16th birthday, Joe Casey takes the girl of his dreams, Sarah, out on their first date. In an effort to impress her, Joe breaks the law. When the police turn up, a split-second decision forces him to choose between himself and his heart as the story splits in two: one which sees Joe stay to face the music - and the other which sees him flee and leave her. As two very different paths unfold before him, the consequences of that choice will change his life forever.

Our House was the winner of the 2003 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and is written by Tim Firth, who wrote The Band and Calendar Girls with Gary Barlow.

Join us in Our House, in the Middle of Our Street, as we enjoy a feast of 80s music with songs from pop band Madness.  Numbers such as House of Fun, Tomorrow’s Just Another Day, Driving in My Car and Baggy Trousers will have you dancing in your seat as our fabulous dancers, talented cast and especially created Show Band give their all.

Tickets cost just £8 for adults and £6 for concessions and children and are available from the desk by Student Reception at break and lunchtime or from School Reception. I am pleased to confirm that school can provide a 50% subsidy on student tickets for students in Years 7 to 11, who are currently in receipt of free school meals. If applicable, please mention ‘FSM’ when buying tickets. The production is entirely funded by ticket sales, so do come along and enjoy the show.

There will be reserved seating again this year, so get your tickets early and make sure you get the seats you want! Make a note in your child’s planner to let us know where you’d like to sit (for example, front row, back row, raised seating) - if the seats you want have sold, we will make sure you get the next best available seats. For those who haven’t been before, there are four flat rows of seats at the front on the floor, the rest are raised on tiered seating. If you need wheelchair access, just let us know. Payment can be made by cheque (payable to PHGS) or cash.

Every year, the cast and crew here at Prince Henry’s Grammar School pull out all the stops to provide a really entertaining evening. Oh, what fun we’ll have…baggy trousers are not compulsory!
