LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
This was supposed to be a ‘small’ production, however with a cast of over 40 and a crew of 20 it proved anything but small. Rehearsals started way back in September 04 and the show was performed in February.
This dark comedy musical provided many challenges for staff and students. We had to acquire a giant man eating plant called Audrey II, find a real dentists chair, not to mention stretching the chorus of 3 girls in the original musical to a chorus of 30 for the Prince Henry’s production.
In the weeks after Christmas, time seemed to speed by as the cast and production team struggled to learn lines, cues, songs and dances. By the end of January Musical Director Lucy Greenwood and Producer/Director Sian Ellis were looking very tired and very worried.
On the 1st of February 2005 all the hard work came together for the first performance of Little Shop of Horrors. We sold out practically every night and over five nights nearly a thousand people came to see the show. We got rave reviews and audiences loved the show.
Next year the Music department will fulfil a long time ambition and produce a special schools version of Les Miserables. Look out for details!!!!
