GEOGRAPHY AT PRINCE HENRY’S

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT: PATRICK LEWIS

TEACHING STAFF:

June Brighouse, Alex Belton

Geography is an important and useful subject. It is important because it teaches the students about the world they live in and the ways in which our actions affect the world. It is useful because it allows them to acquire a variety of skills that will be of value whatever they decide to do later in life. It is a subject that makes a useful bridge between Arts and Sciences, at A level or beyond.

The department are specialists who work from a suite of rooms equipped with a wide range of resources. As a data handling and managing subject the use of I.C.T. is encouraged. There are computer facilities in the department and the subject regularly uses I.C.T. computer rooms. A wide variety of teaching styles are employed. Each room has television, video and the department is well equipped with books and other resources. Practical and fieldwork are seen as key areas in the study of this subject.
