Setting Up The Database
   

 

Open Access and create a new blank database, give the database a suitable name.

Select Create table in design view. .

You should see a grid like the one below
When you have entered the field type, other options appear at the bottom of the screen. These allow you to set the field length and decide on decimal places or choose how to present the date.

Here you type in the field length you want. It is automatically set to 50, you change it to the length you think you will need.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The number of decimal places is also set to Auto so you need to select how many decimal places you want from the drop down list.
