PRIZEGIVING 2004: SAVE THE CHILDREN

Each year in December we hold our annual Presentation or “Prizegiving” Evening, when former Year 11 and Year 13 students are invited back to collect their exam certificates, and special awards are presented. These include subject prizes, trophies and awards for service to the school or the community.

For the first time in December 2004 we introduced the Language College Award for Global Citizenship. This new award was for the Year 11 or Year 13 student who had made the greatest single contribution to the global community.

In order to mark this important development in our commitment to internationalism we decided to invite a guest speaker from an organisation involved in education in the developing world. We were delighted to welcome Lesley Walton from Save the Children, who spoke about the work of the organisation in particular as well as the wider issues of global citizenship in general.
