INTERNATIONAL VISITORS

Foreign visits and exchanges are an important way in which students and staff can meet people from other countries and learn about other cultures. Clearly, though, it is not possible to take 1500 people on a world tour every year! Therefore, equally important to us are the opportunities we have to welcome to Prince Henry’s visitors from around the globe.

In 2004/2005 over 150 people from at least a dozen different countries spent time with us at Prince Henry’s. These included visitors from Colombia, Norway, China, Germany, USA, Senegal, France, South Africa, Spain, Belgium, Panama, Argentina and Australia. Some came for just a few hours to see what life is like in a British school, whilst others stayed for a whole term, attending lessons with a host student and integrating fully into the life of the school.

By welcoming visitors from around the world we aim for our students:

  • To have the opportunity to meet people from other countries/cultures.
  • To appreciate the similarities and differences between their own lives and those of young people from around the world.
  • To learn to work alongside students from a variety of cultures on shared tasks.
  • To develop their linguistic, communication and personal skills.
