It is widely accepted that Britain continues to find itself increasingly disadvantaged by its lack of a workforce proficient in other languages, and by the inability to communicate with potential trading partners in their native tongue. Now, more than ever before, improved language skills are considered to be a key factor in the nation’s future prosperity.

As we become citizens of Europe and of the wider “global village”, it is ever more important that we develop the ability to get to know our counterparts from around the world, to understand their cultures and to speak their language. How else will we be able to fully exploit the opportunities which the new millennium brings, not just to travel to other parts of the globe, but also to live and work there?

As the first Specialist Language College within the Leeds area, Prince Henry’s Grammar School offers the best possible language learning environment. Our students use the very latest technology to enhance their studies, and many have the opportunity to participate in a residential visit abroad where they can put into practice the language they are learning.
