Food Technology lessonResistant Materials lessonThe Design and Technology department is very successful and has an enthusiastic team of teachers accomodated in a dedicated suite of rooms. Our main aim is to encourage and foster design awareness and manufacturing ability via quality solutions to problems within a full range of material areas. These are :

  • Food Technology
  • Resistant Materials
  • Product Design
  • Textiles

 

                        

An integral part of many projects is the use of ICT including Computer aided design and manufacture (CAD/CAM).

 

KS3 CURRICULUM

In this Key Stage students are set a variety of tasks across a number of material areas. Each one has unique challenges and is designed to build confidence through experience. During each subsequent year the students revisit material areas and engage in more detailed projects, building on existing skills and knowledge to create a variety of individual outcomes. Students are not put into sets in any year group.

Food Technology lessonA number of students are currently involved in a wide range of enrichment activities, including:

 

 

  • Cookery Club (Thursday after school)

  • Rotary Club competitions (Technology Challenge Tournament, Young Chef competition)
  • Future Chef
  • Clothes Show competition
