RELIGIOUS STUDIES - GALLERY

This picture, found on the RS postcard, was used by French astronomer Camille Flammarion (1842-1945) to show how the earth was once thought flat. Flammarion writes: “What, then, is this blue sky, which certainly does exist, and which veils from us the stars during the day?”

For us, this picture represents our quest to look beyond the obvious world that the media presents to us. It encourages us to challenge commonly held views about the world and come to our own understanding about who we are and where we stand.

Humans have long had an urge to answer fundamental questions about their existence and the meaning of their lives. It may be that there are no ultimate answers, but the striving and the journey are part of the human experience.

This quest is what Religious Studies is about…
