Textiles are everywhere: from our wardrobes to our homes and even our cars and public transport. Textile Technology offers you the opportunity to enter the world of design and discover how, why and where fabrics are made, and to produce items for both interiors and fashion. Research on design and production may be enhanced by a trip to the BBC Clothes Show Live.

The course is suitable for both boys and girls. A GCSE in the subject can provide a pathway to careers in Fabric Design, Theatre and Costume Design, Creative Textiles, Arts and Crafts, Fashion/Fabric Marketing, Colour Predictor/Chemistry, Textiles Buyer/Selector, Fashion and Textiles Management.

The course is designed to enable all students, both boys and girls, to reach high levels of success. It is an excellent preparation for the AS/A2 course in Product Design, a new and exciting course offered in the Sixth Form.
