STUDENT IS OTLEY YOUNG ACHIEVER

Year 12 student Emeli Mumford is celebrating, after she was awarded the Otley Town Council Young Achiever Award 2019.

Emeli received the award, for her charity work and service to the Otley Community. The award follows Emeli releasing a charity single with a choir involving 40 local children, raising over £2500 for Save the Children and taking in part in several local events.

Following the ward ceremony, Emeli tweeted "So honoured to have received the Young Achievers award 2019 from Otley Town Council tonight, with past winners such as Lizzie Armitstead and Chloe Tear. Thank you so much to everyone who has and continues to support me."

Pippa McPherson, Admin Manager: Community Engagement at Prince Henry's said "Emeli is a delight to have around and absolutely not a prima donna. She is as proud of her Dear Santa Choir as we are of her achievement. Save the Children's national Fundraising Manager said to me at the launch of her single that they receive many requests to release charity singles, but very few see the light of day - never mind, Radio 2! They then asked Emeli and the choir to be part of their national Christmas Jumper Day, singing and working in their Wetherby Charity Shop. Emeli is definitely a credit to Otley and Prince Henry's – she  has gone way above and beyond what you might imagine a young woman of her age might be able to achieve."
