YEAR 6 OPEN EVENING A GREAT SUCCESS

Our Open Evening for prospective new students in Year 7 was packed full of fun!

Over 800 people flocked to the Open Evening on Monday 1 October, taking part in lots of exciting activities and finding out all about life at Prince Henry's.

Pupils from more than 35 primary schools across Otley, North Leeds and the Wharfe valley came with their parents and carers and enjoyed activities across the school. They also saw a presentation from Headteacher Janet Sheriff and performances and demonstrations from students and staff.

There was a great deal of fun to be had playing a piano made of bananas, squishing and exploding things in Science, trying and making food in many languages, hanging upside down in PE and trying out a multitude of hands on activities across the curriculum. Dylan Coombes, Lucy Casson, and Maya Kimuli had a great time making pretzels in German.

Visiting parents were wowed by the interactive activities and the friendly atmosphere of the school. One commented “I just wanted to thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable look around your school. The atmosphere generated by the staff and students was so overwhelmingly positive that my children are looking forward to starting next September now more than ever.” A Year 6 child wrote “It was amazing!”

“Our annual Open Evening is a great chance for prospective students and their parents to see everything that is on offer at Prince Henry’s. It is always popular, but this year was busier than ever! Over 450 families enjoyed finding out about the fantastic opportunities we offer our students.”  said Christopher Lillington, Assistant Headteacher.

Current Year 11 students from any local school get their turn to find out about Sixth Form at Prince Henry's on Thursday 8 November from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. As well as an introduction to our Sixth Form, students get to meet teaching staff, hear from and talk to current students and try taster lessons in their potential subjects.

We are friendly and high achieving Sixth Form, with a great deal to offer academically and socially. We are also one of the few Sixth Forms in the area to be running 3 languages at A Level alongside Music and a wealth of other subjects, with high achivening results at both A Level and the vocational subjects. Each year, a hugh proportion of our stduents secure places at their first choice University, including Russell Group Universites, Oxford and Cambridge and medical, vetinerary and dentistry schools
