SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENING - booking form now closed but call to join us

We will be holding our Sixth Form Open Evening at 6.15pm on Thursday 4th November 2021 and Year 11s and their parents and carers from across the area are invited. In light of COVID-19, the format has changed slightly, and we do need you to book to come along.

The evening will take the form of subject presentations from each A-level subject area. If you wish to attend, the booking form is now closed, but please call our Sixth Form Team on 01943 463524 and we will try to accommodate you. You will need to select four subjects of interest so that you can be allocated to specific subject presentations.  You will be contacted via email before 5pm on Thursday 4th November with your individual timetable of sessions, and a specific assigned entrance to reduce congestion.  There will also be an opportunity to speak to the Sixth Form Team about general queries during the course of the evening.

There are introductory videos available here with an introduction from our Executive Headteacher, Mrs Sheriff, information about Sixth Form admissions, and some input from our Senior Students.  We very much hope that you will watch these before you attend so that we can address any specific questions on the night.

The format of the evening has been altered this year in light of Covid-19 restrictions and a range of measures have been put in place to avoid congestion and minimise risk to students, staff and visitors. We ask that all visitors adhere to the following measures:

  • Only one parent/carer per student and no younger siblings where possible
  • Use hand sanitiser on arrival
  • Wear a face covering while in school (except school aged students)
  • Do not come into school if, on the day, you are displaying symptoms of Coronavirus, or have tested positive for Coronavirus, or have been instructed to self-isolate.

The open evening is designed to inform students and parents about the options available in the Sixth Form at Prince Henry’s and supports the important process students must go through when making decisions about their education post-16.  All of our courses are Level 3 (advanced level) with the exception of Maths and English which we offer as a GCSE re-sit for students who do not attain a grade 4 in the summer.  If advanced level study is not appropriate or of interest to your son or daughter, then please telephone the school and make an appointment to discuss alternative options with a member of the careers team.

There will also be a separate Taster Morning event (Saturday 19th January 2022). This day will allow students and parents from both Prince Henry’s and other schools to experience lessons in up to five different subjects, to help students make a more informed choice about their options. More information, including the exact timings and subject options will be published prior to this event.
