    PSHE Support Programme

Our PSHE support programme is built into our wider curriculum work with our Sixth Form Students. The programme develops through the two years from learning more about independent study as a Sixth Former, through focussing on destinations and the future to preparation for the exam season.

The PSHE programme particularly focusses on life skills, such as online and financial well-being and well-being at work and more practical skills, such as building furniture and cooking in preparation for living away from home, as well as focussing on mental health, physical health, managing risk and more.

    • Students cover PSHE and citizenship content with tutors in a programme of regular one hour sessions. In addition, students have five 'Future Focus' days across Year 12 and 13, when the younger students have their PSHE days. These days are particularly important for our Sixth Formers, as much of the broader support for future careers, university applications and life at university or after school is delivered on these days.
    • Weekly assemblies and bulletins for each year group explore key messages relevant to the time of year, and to our key themes, as well as presenting students with opportunities from summer schools to clubs and visits.
    • Our enrichment and volunteering programmes provide additional chancefor students to build and reflect on their skills and experiences.
    • Students can take on roles in student leadership, including taking part in open events and fundraising, or applying to join our Senior Student team in summer.
    • The whole of Year 12 will engage in formal work experience in July.

Alongside this wider curriculum, the PSHE programme focusses on allowing students to develop into fully rounded, confident individuals, who are ready for the next stage of their lives, with support to help them decide what that stage will be and to help them get there.
