Art and Languages Lead the Way as Community Education returns

The new Community Education programme is packed with courses in 9 languages and a whole host of hobbies and interests.

Languages include French, German, Italian, Spanish and BSL, with Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and a new course in English for speakers of other languages.

In Hobbies, Interests and Well-Being, alongside the usual stalwarts of African Drumming, Dru Yoga, Fly Tying, Pilates and Patchwork, courses in 3D Art, Card-making, Creative Journaling, Gelli-Plate Printing, Photography and turning a sheep’s fleece into everything from thread to felt are available.

The programme’s much enjoyed Saturday workshops are back, with Art History, taster sessions, lino cut and Christmas crafts, alongside discovering other cultures and a host of techniques to relax and slow down your chattering mind.

“We are so pleased to be able to offer such a wide-ranging programme this year, with local tutors offering local people a real breadth of enjoyable activities. Over 400 people come to us every year to learn a language with support from an experienced tutor, or to try out a new hobby and relax in a friendly atmosphere. With no external funding, we also pleased to have been able to keep our prices down for the community.” said Pippa McPherson, Admin Manager: Community Engagement.

The Community Education programme is on sale now. 10 week courses start at just £81 for full price attendees or £71 for those over 65 and in full time retirement. Call 01943 463524 for a brochure or visit our website here to find the full details.
