    Students excel with record results!

PRINCE Henry's Grammar School students have excelled themselves again, achieving a bumper set of record results at A Level.

Sally Bishop, Headteacher, Prince Henry’s Grammar School said: "Yet again we are so proud of our sixth form students who celebrate the culmination of their hard work today in receiving their well-earned set of grades. Huge congratulations and well done to all of our students – you have flourished at Prince Henry’s, and we hope you can now enjoy and look forward to the next part of your journey. The vast majority of students have succeeded in securing a place at their first-choice university, apprenticeship or workplace. We wish all of them the very best for an exciting future beyond PHGS.”

Academic performance is significantly above national averages and highlighted by impressive increases across all key attainment measures in comparison to previous years. The overall pass rate is 99% and the percentage of higher grades awarded in 2025 has massively increased with a school record of 37% of all grades achieved at the highest A*/A grade. Similarly, this cohort achieved 63% at A*-B and 86% at grades A* - C this year.

There are some amazing individual success stories across the full range of academic achievement. At the top end seven students gained straight A* grades and go on to their first-choice destinations. Students securing an impressive 4 A*s include Magenta Bareham, who will study Physics at Durham; Tom Ng, who moves on to Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, London; Samuel Petrie who will read Economics at Warwick; and Samuel Rhodes, soon to be studying Business and Economics at Edinburgh. Equally impressive were those securing a full suite of 3 A*s; Liam Carver, who will progress to Durham to study Engineering, and Skye Fuller and Shona Mallen, who will both read Chemistry, at Lancaster and Sheffield respectively. A further three students achieved 3 A*s and an A, among them Ewan Ashworth-Ellis, who will pursue a gap year before further study, Anthony Marston, who will progress to Medicine at Hull York Medical School, and Yunhan Wu, who will study Chemical Engineering at Imperial College, London.

Furthering our raft of high achievers, 23 students achieved a mixture of top grades at A*/A or Distinctions, with Frederic Davies and Matthew Young excelling in their vocational qualifications, with the latter going on to study Physiotherapy at York St John. Ella Kilvington also achieved three Distinctions in BTEC Sport and BTEC Business.

Sally Bishop, Headteacher, Prince Henry’s Grammar School added: "Once again, the eclectic variety of destinations and subjects for our students this year is testament to the exceptional advice and pastoral support given to our sixth form, where new opportunities are increasingly promoted. A growing number of students continue to choose gap years to consider their next steps.

"We are particularly proud of a number of our students who have faced challenges around either special educational needs or juggling many other commitments, and of course there are many more personal success stories. Notably, Mackenzie Mackreth, who played professionally for Sheffield United, gained fantastic results, and is going on to continue her football career whilst studying at Marshall University in the USA. Amelie Pease and Lucy Chambers also gained superb results whilst acting professionally in two of this year’s most popular drama series. Special mention for great achievement should also go to Panthere Coultas who will proceed to Law at Northumbria and Mykyta Khairulin who achieved success sitting his A-levels in his third language and is moving on to study Data Science at Northumbria.
