ASDAN Students Ace Food Bank Collection

A group of Sixth Formers organised an annual Christmas Food Bank Appeal, doing their bit to support the Otley Food Bank. The food bank appeal is part of the ASDAN Level 3 Personal Effectiveness course, which helps young people develop their skills in teamwork and employability.

Students at the Food BankStudents in Years 12 and 13, along with staff, donated essential items to their form collection boxes – designed by the ASDAN students. The team delivered the donations to the food bank to help to make up parcels which were distributed to families over the Christmas period. The students described the experience as incredibly rewarding and eye-opening, giving them a deeper understanding of the struggles some of the local community face.

“Going to the food bank was an amazing experience, It mad me appreciate what I have and reminded me that small things can help someone else in need.” said student Isla Mathie.

“It is great to see the school’s community come together to donate and help those less fortunate. A big thank you to everyone that donated.” agreed student Grace Carter.

Post-16 Year Manager Mrs Robinson-Junni said “We’re so thankful to our Sixth Form students and staff for bringing in such a huge number of donations for the Otley Food Bank. The orgnaising team have done a fantastic job – keeping everyone informed about how to get involved and what the food bank needs at this time of year. The food bank was grateful to receive items such as long-life milk and tinned vegetables, which there is a shortage of.”
