Prince Henry's Grammar School A Level Results 2025

Prince Henry’s students have excelled themselves again, achieving a bumper set of record results at A Level. Yet again we are so proud of our sixth form students who celebrate the culmination of their hard work today in receiving their well-earned set of grades. Huge congratulations and well done to all of our students – you have flourished at Prince Henry’s, and we hope you can now enjoy and look forward to the next part of your journey. The vast majority of students have succeeded in securing a place at their first-choice university, apprenticeship or workplace. We wish all of them the very best for an exciting future beyond PHGS.”

Academic performance in 2025 is exceptional, significantly above national averages and highlighted by impressive increases across all key attainment measures in comparison to previous years.  The overall pass rate is 99% and the percentage of higher grades awarded in 2025 has massively increased with a school record of 37% of all grades achieved at the highest A*/A grade.  Similarly, this cohort achieved 63% at A*-B and 86% at grades A* - C this year.

There are some amazing individual success stories across the full range of academic achievement.  At the top end seven students gained straight A* grades and go on to their first-choice destinations.  Students securing an impressive 4 A*s  include Magenta Bareham, who will study Physics at Durham; Tom Ng, who moves on to Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, London; Samuel Petrie who will read Economics at Warwick; and Samuel Rhodes, soon to be studying Business and Economics at Edinburgh.   Equally impressive were those securing a full suite of 3 A*s; Liam Carver, who will progress to Durham to study Engineering, and Skye Fuller and Shona Mallen, who will both read Chemistry, at Lancaster and Sheffield respectively.  A further three students achieved 3 A*s and an A, among them Ewan Ashworth-Ellis, who will pursue a gap year before further study, Anthony Marston, who will progress to Medicine at Hull York Medical School, and Yunhan Wu, who will study Chemical Engineering at Imperial College, London.

Furthering our raft of high achievers, 23 students achieved a mixture of top grades at A*/A or Distinctions, with Frederic Davies and Matthew Young excelling in their vocational qualifications, with the latter going on to study Physiotherapy at York St John.  Ella Kilvington also achieved three Distinctions in BTEC Sport and BTEC Business.

Once again, the eclectic variety of destinations and subjects for our students this year is testament to the exceptional advice and pastoral support given to our sixth form, where new opportunities are increasingly promoted. A growing number of students continue to choose gap years to consider their next steps.

We are particularly proud of a number of our students who have faced challenges around either special educational needs or juggling many other commitments, and of course there are many more personal success stories.  Notably, Mackenzie Mackreth, who played professionally for Sheffield United, gained fantastic results, and is going on to continue her football career whilst studying at Marshall University in the USA.  Amelie Pease and Lucy Chambers also gained superb results whilst acting professionally in two of this year’s most popular drama series.  Special mention for great achievement should also go to Panthere Coultas who will proceed to Law at Northumbria and Mykyta Khairulin who achieved success sitting his A-levels in his third language and is moving on to study Data Science at Northumbria.

Of course, there are many more, but it should go without saying that we are proud of each and every one of our students for their endeavours and hard work, whatever grades are achieved or destinations are being embarked upon.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank and congratulate the sustained efforts of our committed and dedicated staff at Prince Henry’s who continue to go the extra mile to ensure that our students can really flourish and achieve, fully equipped both academically and personally.  The continued success of Prince Henry’s as an outstanding school across all areas is due to their hard work and the commitment of our amazing students. Well done to all – we look forward to your photographs adorning our walls in years to come when you become one of our future Prince Henry’s People! Good luck and keep in touch.”

Prince Henry's Grammar School GCSE Results 2025

Following our exceptional A Level results last week, Year 11 students have also delivered an impressive set of GCSE results at Prince Henry’s.  We are so proud of our students who, with the support of their teachers, have once again excelled.  They have shown remarkable perseverance to be rewarded with some extremely strong outcomes, particularly at the higher end. An impressive number achieved top grades across a range of subjects, surpassing national averages by 10%. Nearly a third of all GCSE grades awarded were at 9-7.  Students achieved highly across various measures, including 62% who achieved a strong pass (5+) in both English and Maths and over 68% 5+ in all GCSEs.  As usual there is much to celebrate with numerous individual accomplishments hidden amongst the data to outline our pride in Prince Henry’s being a fully inclusive school supporting all students to flourish and achieve.

Yet again, there are some amazing individual successes with an impressive number of students securing personal successes as well as those achieving the highest grades in their GCSEs. There are too many to mention here, but of special note are Hannah Young, who achieved an incredible suite of nine top grades at grade 9 alongside one grade 8, Amelie Tinslay who secured seven grade 9’s and three 8’s and Ollie Holder with six 9’s and four.   Emma Walters and Jacob Wright each secured an impressive number of eight grade 9’s alongside an 8 and a 7 each.  Additionally, the following students were amongst those who received grades 7-9 across all of their subjects: Mariya Asim, Florence Brown, Lucy Casson, Elise French, Alexandra Henry, Maya Kimuli, Millie Morris-Bennett, Holly Nichells, Annabel Rhodes and Ellen Walker. Assessing value added, or progress data, there were some fantastic achievements from a significant number of students who achieved well above their target grades.  In the case of the following, these students achieved on average 3 grades higher; Marley Armitage, Elise French, Leah Heath-Walker, Miriam Hudson, Charlotte Lunn, Ben Simpson, Amelie Tinslay and Anya Vink.  Numerous others joined these in achieving extremely positive progress.  Finally, of course, it goes without saying that equally impressive were the individual performances from a large number of students who overcame their own difficulties or for whom their set of results are a truly remarkable achievement.  We are proud of you all for your hard work and commitment, and for what you have achieved despite the many challenges.

The majority of our Year 11 students will continue studying in our Sixth Form, but there are still a limited number of places available on some courses for other students wishing to join our highly successful sixth form provision at Prince Henry’s Grammar School.

“I am extremely proud of all of our Year 11 students - they have clearly shown determination and resilience working hard to secure amazing outcomes. Our students have shown real dedication to their learning and this, together with the outstanding teaching, guidance and support from our committed and hard-working staff means that students have flourished in their journey to these results, in many cases, achieving beyond expectations. It is really pleasing to see so many students achieve the grades they need to progress to the next stage of their learning and we wish all of them the very best for their futures, regardless of their destination. My congratulations go to all our students, and staff for their hard work, tenacity and unwavering commitment – well done, and we look forward to following your future endeavours”
