Prince Henry's Grammar School A Level Results 2026

"Prince Henry’s students are celebrating, with the class of 2026 achieving a great set of results with A Levels and BTECs. We are so proud of our sixth form students who celebrate the culmination of their hard work today in receiving their final grades and secure, or start their journey towards their next steps. Huge congratulations and well done – you have flourished at Prince Henry’s, and we hope you can now enjoy and look forward to the next part of your journey having succeeded in securing a university place, an apprenticeship, or embarking on employment. For those having a gap year before taking up offers, have a great time and stay safe! We wish all of our students the very best for an exciting future beyond PHGS.”

Academic performance in 2026 is impressive and remains above national averages once again. The overall pass rate is 99% with well over half of our students securing A*-B grades.

As usual, there are some amazing individual success stories across the full range of academic achievement. Ned Gallagher-Thompson gained an impressive 4 straight A* grades and goes on to read Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at Cambridge, alongside Millie Spencer who also follows her path to Cambridge to read History having secured 3 A*s and an A. Students securing a number of A*/A grades include Aphra Tandy who will study Neuroscience at UCL, Isaac Smith, Chemical Engineering at Nottingham, Oscar Roden, Maths at Manchester, Ridley Dawrant who will undertake Mathematics, Operational research, Statistics and Economics at Warwick, Will Wilson, Physics at Sheffield, and William Walsh and Miriam Robinson who will both also study at Sheffield, following Mechanical Engineering and Psychology respectively. Freddie Lumb and Niamh Arber will both embark on a Chemical Engineering degree at Manchester and Edinburgh respectively and Max Horvath will study Pharmacy at Nottingham. Also, amongst this group is Maisey Bellwood, our Head Student, who alongside her studies and unwavering commitment to both school and in highly competitive international sports demands as a runner, secured her place at Durham to read Law.

Equally impressive were those students securing at least 3 As; Isobel Peake who will progress to Newcastle to study Chemistry, Isabelle French who will also take up her place at Newcastle for Dietetics, Lizzie Macdonald to Liverpool for Physics, Sebastian Ruddle to Southampton for Maritime Engineering and Ben Stephens, who also had a huge commitment to competitive rugby whilst securing the results to gain him a place at Nottingham to study Finance, Accounting and management.

A further six students achieved top grades of Distinction* in their vocational qualifications, among them Lea Ellison and Adam Hughes who will both pursue Sport and Exercise Science at Leeds Beckett, Elodie Thompson who embarks on Primary Education at York St John, and Kitty Quin who will attend Swansea to study Sport and Exercise Science. Jack Bailey was also high achieving in this area and he is taking a gap year before considering next steps.

Once again, the eclectic variety of destinations and subjects for our students this year is testament to the exceptional advice and pastoral support given to our sixth form, where new opportunities are increasingly promoted.

We are particularly proud of a number of our students who have faced challenges around either special educational needs or juggling many other commitments, and of course there are many more personal success stories. Notably, special mention for great achievement and/or progress should also go to Shahnaz Waqar who will study Primary Education at Bath Spa, Robin Macpherson-Barrett who will move on to study Climate, Sustainability and Environment management at Sheffield Hallam and Jamie Dunne who will attend Leeds Trinity for Games Design. In addition, Roman Halabitskyi has secured his place at Manchester Metropolitan to study Digital Business and Technological Innovation.

Of course, there are many more, but it should go without saying that we are proud of each and every one of our students for their endeavours and hard work whatever grades are achieved or destinations are being embarked upon.

Prince Henry's Grammar School GCSE Results 2025

Following our exceptional A Level results last week, Year 11 students have also delivered an impressive set of GCSE results at Prince Henry’s. We are so proud of our students who, with the support of their teachers, have once again excelled. They have shown remarkable perseverance to be rewarded with some extremely strong outcomes, particularly at the higher end. An impressive number achieved top grades across a range of subjects, surpassing national averages by 10%. Nearly a third of all GCSE grades awarded were at 9-7. Students achieved highly across various measures, including 62% who achieved a strong pass (5+) in both English and Maths and over 68% 5+ in all GCSEs. As usual there is much to celebrate with numerous individual accomplishments hidden amongst the data to outline our pride in Prince Henry’s being a fully inclusive school supporting all students to flourish and achieve.

Yet again, there are some amazing individual successes with an impressive number of students securing personal successes as well as those achieving the highest grades in their GCSEs. There are too many to mention here, but of special note are Hannah Young, who achieved an incredible suite of nine top grades at grade 9 alongside one grade 8, Amelie Tinslay who secured seven grade 9’s and three 8’s and Ollie Holder with six 9’s and four. Emma Walters and Jacob Wright each secured an impressive number of eight grade 9’s alongside an 8 and a 7 each. Additionally, the following students were amongst those who received grades 7-9 across all of their subjects: Mariya Asim, Florence Brown, Lucy Casson, Elise French, Alexandra Henry, Maya Kimuli, Millie Morris-Bennett, Holly Nichells, Annabel Rhodes and Ellen Walker. Assessing value added, or progress data, there were some fantastic achievements from a significant number of students who achieved well above their target grades. In the case of the following, these students achieved on average 3 grades higher; Marley Armitage, Elise French, Leah Heath-Walker, Miriam Hudson, Charlotte Lunn, Ben Simpson, Amelie Tinslay and Anya Vink. Numerous others joined these in achieving extremely positive progress. Finally, of course, it goes without saying that equally impressive were the individual performances from a large number of students who overcame their own difficulties or for whom their set of results are a truly remarkable achievement. We are proud of you all for your hard work and commitment, and for what you have achieved despite the many challenges.

The majority of our Year 11 students will continue studying in our Sixth Form, but there are still a limited number of places available on some courses for other students wishing to join our highly successful sixth form provision at Prince Henry’s Grammar School.
